Sources of significant biotech alliances of 2005

BPN 2006: For sources of the most significant biotech alliances of 2005 for the BPN Creative Deal-making session coming up on February 6, 2006, I am looking to three sources:

1. Burrill & Co.'s quarterly publications, which includes 'Selected Partnering Transactions', based on size. The Q4 edition is not available as of January 18, 2006, but the preceding four list almost 40 transactions.

2. The Best of Biotech 2005 Awards at the 18th Annual Biotech CEO Meeting in Laguna Niguel, California. On Sunday, October 9, 2005, gave the award for 'The Most Creative and Significant Deal' to the Anadys/Novartis collaboration. The other nominees in the category were:

* Alkermes/Cephalon
* Micromet/Serono
* Shire/New River, and
* Protein Design Labs/Roche.

3. The Scrip Awards 2005 category: "Licensing Deal of the Year", which also went to the Anadys/Novartis. The shortlist was:

* Novartis Pharma and Anadys Pharmaceuticals
* Coley Pharmaceutical Group and Pfizer
* Astrazeneca & Avanir
